It’s exactly what you think it is.  Ever watch anime?  Read sci-fi?  Well… here it is, a spy bot that looks (it’s a prototype, it will look better when completed) and flies like a humming bird!!  Crazy, crazy stuff!!

MJcoverBy now, the world knows that Michael Jackson passed away on 06.25.09.  The reports are all over the place, and you can find them very easily.  I’m not going to talk about how he died.  I wanted to pay tribute to him.  By no way what-so-ever fitting into the status quo, Michael Jackson influenced the lives of MILLIONS of people.  Diddy, aka, Puff Daddy, said earlier of Michael, “Michael Jackson showed me that you can actually see the beat.”  See it… feel it… love it.  I got into DJing because of my love of clubbing.  And my love of clubbing came from my love of dancing.  And as a child born in 1980, take a guess who I tried to dance, and dress, and be like when I was a kid… exactly.

I couldn’t sleep last night (and as much as Michael’s passing means to me, it’s not why I couldn’t sleep… I just couldn’t sleep), and as I lay in bed the idea of a doing a tribute mix popped into my head… so I got up and got to work.

Now please understand, I don’t mix this type of music, aka open format.  I spin house and trance and a bunch of other styles like those.  This was something I did out of love for the music that Michael Jackson gave to us.  His music has meaning, and I very much believe in the power of music.  (Don’t mind me if I’m rambling, it’s almost 6am).  Anyway, here it is…. I’ll fix the post up later (when I wake up) with a proper track list.

Great, great show by Fatboy Slim! It’s been a while since I went to a proper show… maybe not since Ultra back in March. I need to get back into the City more often!!

I was testing out my phone which has video capabilities now, but unfortunately, the mic is absolutely no good in a party environment, so I won’t even bother posting those videos.  I did, howerever, have my camera (although I forgot to empty out the memory card on it) so I grabbed a couple of videos!

I’m really really sorry everyone.  I’m not going to be spinning tonight.  Usually, I have no problem staying home and re-arranging plans for Wednesday nights, but I couldn’t convince Norman to move his show to tomorrow.  Norman who? Why, Norman Cook, of course!!! Still not sure who that is?  Maybe this will help…

Oh yeah, baby… Fatboy Slim!!!  FBS is one of the first major non-trance DJs I started to follow… a long, long time ago.  He’s doing his only East Coast performance tonight, so I’m going down for a night of idioticy!  I saw him a few years ago down at Ultra, and it was the most intense, high-energy set I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing!  Hopefully I’ll have some pics and video tomorrow!  :D

In the meantime, make sure to hit up the podcast and subscribe.

I’m not sure what’s going on (well, ok… i think I have an idea), but the podcast page in iTunes is only showing one downloadable item.  This morning it was, correctly, showing two.  I’m hoping that when Apple refreshes the feeds tomorrow, it will clear this problem up…. otherwise, I may have to re-submit my podcast link to their system! >_<

In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying the music which is still available right here on the site!  :D

Nevermind :D …. hit that podcast!! :D

I’m glad my podcast was approved by Apple because I have a brand new CD for you to DL here :D   This is If at First v.7, and it’s my first in the series since last year when I started doing Memory Lapse.

The differences between IaF and ML are that the IaF recordings are meant to fit on a CD and they are very coherent and delibrate pieces.   I playlist very careful and try to build a different theme for each one.   MLs are 2 hours long (typically) and are a little more free form.  ML is meant to be as if I were spinning live at a party, and as such they are recorded (and broadcast) live and on the fly.   Many times I’ll go into a show not having a fully realized idea of what I want, but as I spin and chat, I figure it out.

I’d also like you to note that my podcasting is set up, so you can now directly download from this site, or by clicking the Apple logo in the sidebar, you can go to my iTunes page and setup the podcast to DL automatically to iTunes.  If you’re not using iTunes, just use the RSS feed.

Playlist:
1. Gramophonedzie – Why Don’t You (Original Mix)
2. Alex Kenji – Volviendo Loco (Original Mix)
3. Fergie – Exit People (Original Mix)
4. Anthea, Cellar – Ceadmon Loop (Original Mix)
5. Neuroxyde – Yebo Yebo (Neuroxyde From Berlin Rework)
6. Riktam, Bansi – Green Space (Original Mix)
7. Moby – Pale Horses (Gui Boratto’s Last Window Remix)
8. Ray Costa – Nebula (Joy Kitikonti Remix)
9. Wolfgang Gartner – The Grey Agenda (Original Mix)
10. Sia – The Girl You Lost to Cocaine (Sander Van Doorn Remix)
11. BT – Rose of Jericho (Sultan & Ned Shepard Mix)

If you know how to use it, here’s the cue file, just make sure to rename the mp3 and cue file as “If at First v.7″ NOT “If%20at%20First%20v.7″.  The cue file helps you break the mp3 into tracks when you burn it to CD -> just follow steps 2 – 4 (completely unnecessary if you’re just putting it on an mp3 player, and optional if you’re burning to CD).

I made the album cover using a great photo taken by helixxx.

I’m re-releasing my CD from a few months ago, The Many Shades of Night, for a few reasons. First of all, I never officially released it here on this site. Secondly, I’m setting up podcasting and wanted to try it out! :D

The Many Shades of Night is an example of the variety of electronic music and how we can be in love with it all.  It doesn’t have to always be house… or trance… or whatever.

Actually, this 101!!! :D

In actual news, I’ll be posting my first podcast sometime Sunday night. It’s a CD I recorded a few months ago, but never actually put up on this site. So I’ll be testing the podcasting system with that, and if all goes well, I’ll have another BRAND NEW recording for Tuesday! Stay tuned…
