So I was planning on just doing a sound/equipment check last night. I got a new laptop a few weeks ago, and I wanted to see if A) my laptop was strong enough to DJ off of AND broadcast the show (usually I was using my old laptop and my computer) B) if I could use 2 cameras.
Yes and yes! The equipment check was a success, but i guess i had posted my sound check on my AIM away message, so a few people came in to listen. Ange so I started posting it in a few other places. And more people came… so like 4 hours later, my sound check ended
I didn’t catch the first hour and a half, because like I said… it was supposed to be a sound check but the rest of the show, if you missed it, can be heard right here
As everyone (EVERYONE) knows by now, tech moves at an incredibly high pace. And there seems to be a lot of techies trying things out in the world of music (DS DJ, Touch Screens).
Well, althought this one still is a bit rough around the edges, it is easily the most HOLY CRAP tech demo I’ve seen recently.
Either you had one, or someone you knew had one. I definitely had one. My dad loves to remind me how he knew I was going to have my love/hate/obsessive relationship with technology. When I was 6, my mother took my siblings and I to Colombia for the summer to visit our family. When we got back, apparently, the first thing I asked my dad was, “Did you get it?” “It” being a C64. Man… I was a geek from the start
Well, check it… good hardware is hard to kill. And although it’s not really a C64 anymore, that was what it started life as.
Modders are taking the C64 and turning them into MIDI synth boxes. (video after the jump)
Just as I begin to use Serato to play my music, and as some more “traveled” DJs are using Ableton Live in their sets, some one has to come along and show off a new toy!
I present to you ATTIGO TT:
So I picked up a new portable HDD today. I’m syncing it as we speak.
It’s a Western Digital 320GB Passport. Typically I don’t buy WD, but I went on the recommendation of several friends. So far so good, although the real test will be running it off my laptop. It’s a tiny little thing that would fit in my front pant’s pocket, which makes it super-portable.
This piece of shit hard drive is only like 3 months old and I’ve already had to replace the power cord once AND now it’s starting to shut off on me while I play. Not a big deal, except I’m trying to do more and more of my sets straight from Serato.  And trust me… it’s a lot of fun to be in the middle of a flowing groove and then have your equipment shut down on you.Â
I’m going to keep working on the playlist, but i don’t think I’ll be able to record. I’ll see about picking up a new HDD tomorrow after work. Any suggestions?
